A Message Regarding COVID-19

April 4, 2020 By

WE WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT WE ARE HERE FOR YOU!

We realize the Coronavirus (COVID-19) is impacting everyone, and we share your concern. The health and safety of our staff and members are of our utmost importance. The APS Federal Credit Union would like to assure you, our members, that we will be doing everything within our power to meet your financial needs and make this time as stress-free as possible. Someone from the credit union staff will be in the office every business day during regular business hours. Unfortunately for us, we need to rethink the way we operate and do business.

Therefore, due to the threat of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), and to help ensure everyone’s safety, we have implemented several small changes when visiting the office. We are asking for your cooperation with these changes until further notice:

PRACTICE SAFE SOCIAL DISTANCING WHEN VISITING OUR OFFICE:

  1. Only one member at a time will be allowed to enter the office, so we can safely maintain social distancing. When another member is already in the office, please be patient and wait outside or in your car. The office staff will buzz you in when appropriate.
  2. Make yourself aware of others entering and exiting the office to maintain social distancing.
  3. Please DO NOT touch the glass by the Teller.
  4. Refrain from leaning across the teller counter
  5. Organize your banking only to make one trip to the office.
  6. Try one withdraw/deposit instead of multiple withdraws/deposits over many days.
  7. Use on-line banking if applicable. The URL link can be found on our website at apsfcu.org
  8. Stay home if you’re sick, and have a family member handle your banking if necessary.
  9. Please cover coughs and sneezes
  10. Call ahead for an appointment for loans or lengthy transactions.

We cannot stress enough that we would appreciate our members following these procedures so we can keep our lobby doors open for business. We are hopeful that simple acts of social distancing will help change the course of this pandemic.

We want to assure you that APS Federal Credit Union is prepared to assist our members throughout this crisis. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to give us a call at (727) 483-6260 or send us an email to pallen@apsfcu.org

Introducing the APS EMV VISA Card

April 11, 2017 By

EMV stands for Europay, MasterCard, and VISA the co-developers of a very smart card that`s now widely used throughout Europe and Asia.

Embedded in the EMV card is a microchip that encrypts transaction data differently for each purchase.  So it`s far more secure than a “swipe-the-stripe” card.  You see, magnetic stripes contain payment information that never changes.  All a thief has to do is lift that information to replicate your card and go on a spending spree.  But an EMV card nearly eliminates that possibility because the information for each transaction is uniquely encoded, so it`s much harder for criminals to pick up payment data to use again.  Fortunately, use of the mag-stripe will end soon.

All U.S. credit and debit cards will contain the EMV microchip and all ATMs, point of sale machines, and merchants will be geared to use it.  Until then, your new card has both an EMV chip and a mag-stripe for your convenience.

Because we put your safety first!  The Credit Union has always been a leader in adapting technology that makes your banking experience faster, easier, and safer, so it should come as no surprise that we are issuing replacement Credit Cards with an EMV micro-chip.  Please review and follow the instructions with your New VISA card to activate your card and get started!

New APS VISA Credit Card

March 26, 2017 By

Important Notice about Your VISA Credit Card with EMV chip technology!  You can activate your new card beginning Sunday, March 26, 2017.

Since this is an all-new account number, your old PIN will no longer work.  You can choose a new PIN by calling 1-888-886-0083 beginning Sunday, March 26, 2017.

If you have any pre-authorized or reoccurring debits (health club, insurance, etc.), you will need to advise those merchants of your new VISA account number.  Do not use your old VISA after Saturday, March 25, 2017.

Also, if you have any alerts associated with your credit card, you will need to reset those after Sunday, March 26, 2017.

Notice to VISA Cardholders

January 31, 2017 By

To help protect your account from fraud, VISA has enhanced their existing security protection.  VISA already protects your account by reviewing activity after your transaction is approved.  VISA attempts to contact you if a transaction falls outside your normal spending pattern.

As criminals become more sophisticated, the need to protect your account during the transaction could prevent fraud at the merchant health effects of falsified medicines.  In some instances you may be declined at the merchant if the activity is considered extremely suspicious.

With a simple call to member service (1-800-4363-0505) VISA will evaluate the transaction and allow you to continue shopping immediately.

We hope you enjoy the peace of mind that comes with knowing your card carries the latest state of the art security features.

Debit Card Limits

January 30, 2017 By

With credit card fraud on the rise, the Credit Union has placed limits on certain transactions when you use your APS Debit Card.  Rest assured, these limits were put in pace to protect the funds in your account.

These limits are outlined below:

  • $200.00 per day ATM withdrawal
  • $1,000.00 per single purchase with a $2,000.00 limit per day.

If at any time you plan on shopping or making a purchase that will exceed these limits, please call the Credit Union so that we can make temporary changes to these limits.

Debit Card Restrictions

January 30, 2017 By

Due to recent debit card fraud in New York and Florida, all Credit Union Debit Card transactions originating in the State of New York must be completed as a PIN-based Transaction.  No signature swipe purchases will be allowed until further notice.  In Florida, no signature swipe purchases will be permitted at Office Depot.

Also, no transactions will be approved for an amount less than One Dollar ($1.00).  If you experience difficulty because a business is trying to verify your card information, please call the Credit Union office for assistance.

If you do not remember your PIN, please contact the Credit Union office to request to have a PIN reminder sent to your address of record.  We apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause.  The security of our member’s finances is our number one priority.

Scrutinize Your Accounts

January 30, 2017 By

With incidents of identity theft on the rise, it is imperative that you scrutinize your account statement(s) every month for unauthorized transactions.  If there is an unauthorized withdrawal from your account, there is a small window of only 60 days to request an adjustment.  The 60 days actually expires 30 days after you receive your statement. Also, please be aware that if you use your STAR/VISA DEBIT CARD to pay recurring bills, the credit union has no ability to stop or return these transactions.

Safeguard your Star/VISA Debit Card

January 25, 2017 By

If you receive a call from either 800-327-8622 or 800-830-8574 (unknown caller), it is imperative that you answer the call or return the call immediately or as soon as possible.  The person calling will be calling regarding possible fraudulent transactions on your ATM/Debit card.  You will never be asked for your account information – they will only be verifying transactions. Remember to never give personal information to anyone calling you.

Telephone Scam

January 10, 2017 By

APS Federal Credit Union would like to inform our members of a widespread telephone scam.  Cardholders may receive what appears to be an automated phone call or text telling them that their ATM/Debit cards are locked.  The automated message requests call recipients to “Press 1” where they are to enter their 16-digit card number into their telephone key pad.  Once this is entered, the scammers are then requesting the card’s Personal Identification Number (PIN).  The scam artists are attempting to obtain member card numbers and PINs in order to gain access to member’s accounts via ATM or Point of Sale (POS) purchases.

APS Federal Credit Union will never request card, account information or PIN number from cardholders over the phone.  In many cases, scams, whether by phone or through e-mails, attempt to gain personal information from the call or e-mail recipients such as:

  • First and Last Name
  • Debit Card or ATM Card Number
  • Debit or ATM Card Personal Identification Number (PIN)
  • Date of Birth
  • Social Security Number
  • Account Number and/or Account Type

If you receive one of these phone calls or text, please contact the credit union immediately with the phone number from which you received the call or text.
